Therapeutic Approach and Treatment

Specialized Anxiety Treatment at Tranquilamente

Anxiety is our body's response to stimuli that may be dangerous or threatening.

It is therefore considered a natural defense mechanism, as it enables us to remain alert and react effectively.

Treating anxiety involves addressing various aspects in an individualized manner.

At Tranquilamente, we conduct a comprehensive, personalized assessment to determine the treatment plan best suited to the individual.

Anxiety treatment typically involves a psychotherapeutic approach and, if necessary, the use of medication.

We also address lifestyle factors—such as physical activity and diet—and take into account family and social factors, which play such a vital role in our lives.

Anxiety disorders have an excellent prognosis when the root cause is addressed through a sound clinical approach.

Overview

Treatment of Anxiety Disorders at Tranquilamente

Anxiety, at its core, is a natural survival response: it is our body's alert mechanism to protect us from perceived threatening situations. However, when this alarm is constantly activated without real danger, or its intensity prevents you from leading a fulfilling life, we are facing an anxiety disorder.

Living with constant anxiety is profoundly exhausting and conditions every aspect of your daily life. At our Tranquilamente clinic, we understand that your suffering is real and limiting. We do not minimize what you feel nor simply ask you to "relax". We offer specialized medical and psychological support to deactivate that false alarm, recover serenity, and regain control of your life.

Main Symptoms

Symptoms of Anxiety Disorder: How Does It Manifest?

Anxiety is a comprehensive experience that is not only thought, it is intensely felt in the body and mind. Recognizing its manifestations is the first step toward accessing effective treatment:

Psychological and Cognitive Symptoms

  • Feeling overwhelmed and constant apprehension: Catastrophic anticipation and an imminent feeling that something bad is going to happen.
  • Intrusive thoughts and rumination: Difficulty stopping the flow of worries and making decisions.
  • Fear of losing control: Feeling of derealization (feeling that the environment is not real) or depersonalization.
  • Irritability and mental exhaustion: Permanent hypervigilance, difficulty concentrating, and emotional blockages.

Physical and Somatic Symptoms

  • Cardiovascular and respiratory alterations: Tachycardia, palpitations, pressure or tightness in the chest, and shortness of breath (dyspnea).
  • Muscle tension and dizziness: Tension headaches, tremors, instability, or feeling faint.
  • Digestive and sleep disorders: Gastric discomfort, nausea, onset insomnia, or nighttime awakenings with distress.

Common Types

Frequent Types of Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety takes different clinical forms depending on how fear is projected:

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): Excessive, persistent, and hard-to-control worry about multiple everyday aspects (work, health, family).
  • Panic Disorder: Sudden and unexpected onset of panic attacks (anxiety crises) accompanied by intense physical terror and fear of dying or losing control.
  • Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia): Intense and paralyzing fear of social situations where the person feels exposed to others' evaluation or judgment.
  • Agoraphobia: Fear and avoidance of places or situations from which escape might be difficult or where help might not be available in case of a crisis.
  • Specific Phobias: Disproportionate and irrational fear of concrete objects or situations (heights, animals, flying, medical procedures).
